MARA MIRIBUNG

 

Born and bred in the midst of the beautiful Italian Alps.

Studied music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Specialized in Historically Informed Performance Practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, studying baroque Cello and Historical Improvisation. 

A passionate chamber musician, she has given concerts with many international ensembles all over Europe, South America and Asia. In addition, she has collaborated with numerous orchestras, including Kammerorchester Basel, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, Camerata Variabile, Geneva Camerata, Lautten  Compagney Berlin.
In 2018 she performed as a soloist with the Geneva Camerata in Basel, Hong Kong and Seoul. From 2015 to 2017 she was a guest lecturer for the early music department of the Universidad Central in Bogotá, Colombia.

An eclectic and curious artist, Mara works as a performer in theatre (Theater Basel, Residenztheater München, Staatsoper Berlin). She plays in various music theatre productions of the Swiss director Thom Luz, touring internationally with “Girl From The Fog Machine Factory” and Lieder ohne Worte”.

Invitations followed to the Berliner Theatertreffen 2019, Kammerspiele München, Biennale Venezia, Vidy Lausanne, Kampnagel Festival Hamburg, PDC Montpellier, Nowy Teatr Warschau, Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, 

DeSingel Antwerpen, Festspielhaus Hellerau, NET Festival Moskau, Kaserne Basel, China Theatre Festival and Athens Festival.

As a composer and performer she collaborates with the vertical dance company of Rebekka Gather and co-founded TRËI  in 2021-  a versatile all female vocal ensemble that writes and performs a wide spectrum of stage and theatre music.

Maras most recent solo project is called 
Sad Songs For A Crocodile and is a unique collection of troubadour-pop songs for cello, voice and looper.

She is based in Basel, Switzerland.
